Why can’t I see my Google Ads?

You search for storage, but your ad is not there. That can be normal. Here is how budget, bidding and branded searches affect what you see, and how we check whether your campaigns are working.

What did you search?

Ads do not appear on every search. Budget and conversion focused bidding influence which opportunities your campaign pursues.

Understand ad coverage

The short answer

Your ads are designed to reach potential customers within your budget, not to appear on every search. We measure success by the calls, leads and move ins they generate.

01 / Budget and coverage

Your ads do not show for every search

Each search is a new opportunity to show an ad, not a guaranteed placement. Your budget determines how many of those opportunities we can pursue. With a limited budget, your ads may appear for some searches and not others.

When budget is the constraint, increasing it can help us reach a larger share of relevant searches. It does not guarantee that your ad will appear every time. Competition, ad quality, location and campaign settings also affect whether an ad shows.

Not seeing your ad once does not mean your campaign is not running.

02 / Bidding for move ins

We focus on move ins, not visibility alone

We use conversion focused strategies such as Maximize Conversions and Maximize Conversion Value. These tell Google to prioritize the actions and values we track, rather than simply trying to appear on every search.

Maximize Conversions aims to generate more tracked conversions within your budget. Maximize Conversion Value aims to generate more total conversion value. Depending on your campaign setup, those signals can include calls, form submissions, online rentals and verified move ins.

Google adjusts bids for each search based on the likelihood of the configured conversion outcomes. That means two people making a similar search can see different ads. Your own search is not a reliable test of what prospective renters see.

There is another strategy called Target impression share that aims to show ads more often or in a particular position. We generally do not recommend it when move ins are the primary goal: it optimizes visibility rather than conversion results, and can use budget that could otherwise pursue likely renters.

Our goal is to turn your budget into customers, not to win every search.

03 / Searching your brand

What if I search for my facility’s name?

Our default approach is not to target your brand name directly. Someone searching for your facility by name already knows about you. They may be an existing tenant or a customer who has already decided to look for your business, and can often find you through your organic listing or Google Business Profile.

Paying for a click you might have received anyway can use budget without adding a new customer. We usually prioritize searches such as “storage units near me” that help people discover your facility for the first time.

If you want to add branded keywords, we usually recommend additional budget for that campaign. Otherwise, brand searches can pull spend away from the nonbrand searches intended to bring in new customers.

We can review exceptions together, such as competitors advertising on your name or weak organic visibility for your brand. Not targeting your brand directly also does not guarantee an ad will never appear for a brand related search, because Google’s keyword matching can include related queries.

A missing ad on your brand name can be an intentional budget decision.

04 / How to check performance

How should I check whether my ads are working?

Start with campaign results over a meaningful period, not one personal search. Impressions show whether ads are being seen. Calls, qualified leads, verified move ins and cost per move in help show whether that visibility is producing useful results.

For a specific keyword, use Google’s Ad Preview and Diagnosis tool instead of repeatedly searching or clicking your own ad. It lets you check a location and device without generating an ad impression. It is still a snapshot of one search, so read it alongside campaign results.

Your location, device, search history, the time of day and campaign targeting can all affect what you see. If delivery or results have dropped, we should investigate rather than assume the absence is normal.

Campaign data is a better health check than searching for yourself.

05 / Ask us to review it

Still concerned? We can check it together

Send your StorIQ contact the facility name, exact search phrase, where you searched, device and approximate date and time. A screenshot is helpful too. Tell us whether you searched your brand name or a general storage keyword.

We will review campaign activity, budget, targeting, ad eligibility and performance to explain what happened and whether anything needs to change. If you want broader coverage or a branded campaign, we can discuss the budget and tradeoffs before making changes.
